Locating your nest box.
The box should be fixed between 1 and 2 metres from the ground and well hidden in vegetation but with a clear outlook. Try and face the box front between north and east if possible, away from other nest boxes and feeders to avoid conflict from other birds.
Put your nest box in position at any time but before January/February if you want birds to nest during the same year. Autumn is a good time to do this as many birds will enter nest boxes during the colder months to roost or feed.
Clean your nest boxes between October and January.
